The fee is fixed in writing before we start, and it doesn't move if the job turns out harder than it looked. Half the fee starts the work and the other half is due on delivery. A retained month is paid in advance, and the first payment starts the work. There is no VAT to add to the published fees. Any applicable award payment is additional to the base fee.
The base fee is not the whole budget when an award payment applies. The amounts and due dates are immediately below.
Budget for two different things: the work itself, and the applicable payment if the bid is awarded. Reviews carry the same award terms as writing.

One applicable flat amount, rather than a share of the grant. Agreed in writing before work starts.

On an award you pick one of two, and you pick before any work starts. Either the fixed fee in the table above, or 5 per cent of the first-year value of the contract you win, capped at £15,000 and agreed in writing before anything begins.
The fee covers the agreed document and one round of selected changes. A review identifies and implements those selected changes. Writing a new response is a separate scope.
The fee covers a draft up to 3,000 words or six scored questions, whichever comes first. A longer draft is priced from the free read before you send it.
Charity plans from £750 a month. Company plans from £1,500 a month. A month's notice ends it either way, and everything produced is yours on the way out.

Because you are buying the finished piece of work rather than the time it takes, so the quote is for the document and it is the number on the invoice.
